Acoustic Panel Placement Strategy Development for Speech Privacy and Reverberation Control
Engineering Purpose
To design and validate a spatially optimized layout of acoustic absorption panels that achieves target speech privacy (measured by STI ≥ 0.6 or AI ≤ 0.2) and reverberation time (RT60 ≤ 0.6–0.8 s, depending on room function) in a defined architectural space.
This verification tool coordinates the 4 required engineering checks and produces an overall engineering acceptance decision.
Verification Inputs
Enter the measured and reference values for each required check. All fields correspond to the bound small tool input contracts.
1 Map reflection energy reduction to STI improvement Calculation
Determine minimum panel coverage on dominant reflection surfaces to satisfy STI ≥ 0.6
2 Multi-constraint feasibility verification Verification
Select optimal panel type based on NRC, fire rating, and mounting constraints
3 Derive broadband NRC proxy from octave-band RT60 targets Calculation
Convert octave-band RT60 targets to single-number NRC-equivalent specification for panel scheduling
4 Compute STI from impulse response via MTF Calculation
Validate STI compliance at representative receiver positions using simulated impulse responses
